Natural Plan Stomach Soother reviewed by Horse Journal in 2005 & 2012

Image

What a long way we’ve come!  The prestigious Horse Journal in March of 2005 published an article about horse ulcers.  At that time, there was still much debate as to whether or not all horses even had ulcers in the general horse community.  The Horse Journal article did a lot to explain and educate people on the symptoms, signs and  treatments  of horse ulcers and stomach issues.  At that time, they reviewed 19 products, Natural Plan Stomach Soother being one of them.

Their bottom line was that they preferred U-gard Solution.  However, they found “similar rapid results were obtained with (Natural Plan) Stomach Soother”.  Their point of difference at the time was that U-gard was less expensive.  We’d like to point out however, that the cost is negligible when you consider that you may have to use 4 oz. per dose as opposed to 2 oz..  Also, considering that long-term use of calcium & magnesium (the other guy’s active ingredients) has negative side effects, while NPSS has none, the choice is clear.

At that time, in 2005, the Horse Journal listed 19 remedies.  When they published an update on this subject, in June of 2012, only 12 were listed.  And of these 12, only 3 are from the original 19 remedies that were listed back in 2005.  Natural Plan Stomach Soother is one of them (the others being the Pro-CMC & U-gard).  Entering our 10th year of business, we feel blessed to be one of oldest branded alternative digestive remedy on the market.  Our customers find rapid relief for their horses from the discomfort of ulcers, diarrhea, weaning and more.  They appreciate the fact that they can mix other medications like Bute into our tasty Natural Plan Stomach Soother and not have their horse spit out the medication or suffer side effects such as digestive discomfort from antibiotics.

We love the fact that so many horses (and some owners!) have tried our product and have found it useful.  They’ve informed us about uses beyond our initial scope – such as using it for dogs, cats, llamas and alpacas.  Our customers have told us that it’s made their horse calmer or happier.  Travel weary customers have tried it on themselves and let us know how good it made their stomach feel.

Soothing Stomachs Since 2004

Soothing Stomachs Since 2004

I’m the caretaker of a wonderful 30+ year old horse who has numerous issues but a great attitude.  About 10 days ago he developed horrible diarrhea (looser than cow pies).  He appeared to feel fine and was behaving normally except for the diarrhea.  I put him on Natural Plan Stomach Soother and within 24 hours he had his first slightly formed stool in over a week.  By the next day, his stools were perfectly normal.

Thank you for a great product with no bad side effects!

“I ended up talking again to the girl at the tack/feed store I go to about how it might be an ulcer and getting more Ulcergard.  She talked about how it is so expensive and suggested that I try this (Natural Plan) Stomach Soother and that she had good reports from people that were using it for horses on the track.  Thanks for a great product – it worked!”

Natural Plan Stomach Soother has been a HUGE part of our racing stable since I discovered your product while working at the Breeder’s Cup World Championships at Churchill Downs.  The first morning I gave it to her, she was drinking better after she galloped, cleaned up her lunch, and cleaned up her supper…. She put on weight, filled out, dappled out, and was a picture of health.

Natural Plan Stomach Soother Gets Positive Reviews – Helps All Kinds of Stomach Issues

Have you ever Googled yourself?  Kind of a scary moment, when you hit “Enter” and then wait to see what the court of public opinion has to say about you.  Well, we recently checked out what people were saying about Natural Plan Stomach Soother and we are glad we did.  There were a lot of stories where people spoke of how well it worked and a couple of stories where people weren’t sure, but they DID know that the horses loved the taste of Natural Plan Stomach Soother.  There were also some comments on the price – half thought it was inexpensive and half thought it was expensive.  Our comment on that is this, a single tube of omoparazole is well over $30, $40 and is $13 really too expensive for 8 days of digestive treatment?

We’ve taken some of the comments we’ve found online about Natural Plan Stomach Soother and how it helped their horses.  Read on to see how it might help your horse.

“I tried Stomach Soother on my young mare who wasn’t putting on weight months post foaling/weaning and was stressing over her turnout with older horses. I bought 2 months worth and only needed 1 month of it, as she finally turned the corner. She eats well now and always liked the taste of it. I’d been trying to tempt her appetite for months and doing things like shutting her in a stall with her hay. Mine come in for grain 2x a day.”   From: The Heartland

“I have used Stomach Soother for a TB mare that had ulcer symptoms. Her appetite picked up and she seemed happier with the world. I probably kept her on it for 6 months. I ordered a new case and it is sitting unopened because she seems to be eating fine at the moment. I had to feed it to her in a dose syringe at first because I couldn’t depend on her to eat her feed. After about a week I could put it on the feed and she would start eating. She seems to like it. I also use it when the horses are stressed. It is a pain to go get it out of the refrigerator twice a day.”   From Houston, TX

“I used it on an older horse with chronic diarrhea and it definitely helped. It isn’t quite as affordable as I’d have liked – you saw it on a shelf somewhere? I thought it was only available by mail order.”   From: Seargantvilles, NJ

“Love, love, love the (Natural Plan) Stomach Soother.   Old horse suffers from bad NTWs so much that he ulcers and goes off his feed and drops a ton of weight. So this summer, as he was getting itchy – and dewormed for the critters, I started the Stomach Soother. And presto! He kept eating and eating and eating.   Now I use for my fox-hunter/eventer. One day he just started weaving and being stupid. After adding the SS – back to his ol’ calm self.  Not sure if it is the most economical tummy ache med, but it has worked for me so I always make sure there is some in the fridge. ”  From:  Sunny, SC

It’s gratifying to read what’s been read – it was generally positive.  Just a couple of points I’d like to make – – understand it may be a pain to get it out of the fridge, but Natural Plan Stomach Soother has no preservatives so the 32 oz. bottle has to be refrigerated after opening.  We have a 2 oz. size that is available if refrigeration is not an option.  It is more convenient because it'[s a pre-measured dose.  Yes, it is more expensive, but it’s mostly because of the packaging.  Our products are available online at http://www.stomachsoother.com and increasingly, at a local tack or pet store near you.  We get new stores signed up every week.  And about the price, $13 gets you 16 doses for a full sized horse.  Sounds like a deal to me.

We appreciate all the comments and posting that people do because that is how this company has grown – by word of mouth.  It’s the most valuable advertising a company can have.

Papaya for Ponies – A Natural Plan for Health with Natural Plan Stomach Soother

Angus the pony is just beautiful, you couldn’t tell by looking at him that he’s battling Cushings.  Cushing’s disease is a problem with the pituitary gland.  This gland is the hormone  center where they are made and released into the body.  This gland has a great deal of control over body functions.  Cushing’s is this center gone haywire – it won’t turn off.
As a result, this pituitary gland can grow and become pre-tumor, or even tumor cells that can put pressure on the brain which obviously will lead to various problems.  One is that this gland many times affects the adrenal glands.  These adrenal glands are stimulated by the extra hormones and  then the horse over produces cortisol.  Cortisol, that same cortisol that is so bad for humans does horses no favors either.

One of the standard pictures of a horse with Cushing’s would be hairy and thin.  They often have a weak immune system which puts them at risk for a variety of maladies.  They are often very low-energy, tend to run hot and therefore drink (then urinate) excessively.  They may also have fertility problems.

Michele R. writes about her pony Angus, and his struggle with Cushing’s and what she did to help Angus.

“My senior pony, Angus, who has had a complicated battle with Cushing’s, has been on your product for a month and it has saved his life, I am sure!  I have struggled in the past year with Vet bills, diet, ulcer medications, changes in his Cushing’s meds, and a variety of other things.  He had completely stopped eating at one point, which was sheer terror for me.  I was watching my sweet pony waste away.  Since he has been taking Natural Plan Stomach Soother, he has FINALLY started eating his feed straight through without a pause!  I am so thrilled with your product!  I just can’t thank you enough.  Many, many thanks!”

Michele found a way to help one of the major problems Cushing’s causes, making it hard for a horse or pony to keep weight on.  The calories need to be good ones, and diet is crucial.  Many people find success using pelleted feeds or feeding orchard or timothy hays.  Sugar levels need to be watched too.  Natural Plan Stomach Soother is low in sugar (4 grams of sugars per dose) and helps maintain weight.

Better “Legs” with Natural Plan Stomach Soother ™ – Happier Horse for You!

We received the following from Claudia W. of Maryland:

She writes:

Dear (Natural Plan) Stomach Soother

I wanted to share with you the great success I have had using your product for my horse.  I was given a horse by trainer James Murphy, about 2 1/2 years ago.  His name is “Titled” and is half brother to Kentucky Derby winner “Super Saver”.  After being sidelined by knee chips and surgery to remove them, the horse went back to Laurel Park to continue his racing career.

Three months into his recovery, the trainer and his owners decided to find a new home for him.  I was lucky enough to have been contacted by Mr. Murphy’s barn foreman, and a few days later the horse was in my bar, with a new name, “Legs”.  I do recall when I picked him up that there was a large tub of uneaten grain in his stall, but it didn’t really register until much later.  Almost immediately we noticed that the horse really was not very interested in his grain.  He weaved and kicked in his stall, and seemed lethargic most of the time.  He did not lay down, or roll for the first several months I had him, until i had acupuncture work done and the practitioner kept saying how “acidic” he was.  He was very quite and rarely went faster than a walk while turned out, and always seemed to be a bit tied up while under saddle.  Unable to really stretch and go forward.  I always suspected ulcers, because of his thrifty appearance, and never gave him Bute.

Shortly thereafter, I moved to the country and brought “Legs” with me.  The new grain was a sweet feed and within a few weeks he was completely bonkers, so I switched to a low sugar beet pulp based feed.  However, the symptoms got worse, and I finally had him tested for Lyme disease.  The results came back negative, but the vet indicated there may be some ulcer issues, based on the blood work.  I tried a powdered ulcer medication, but after a week I saw no improvement.  This is when I discovered Natural Plan Stomach Soother ™ at my local tack store.   Within 3 days his stall smelled better, and he was kicking up his heels in the field!

That was over a year ago.  He has become robust and cheerful with the help of Natural Plan Stomach Soother ™!  We continue our training and are looking forward to a fun summer of Hunter shows!  Thank you NPSS for helping my hose!

Can’t afford Omiprazole? Try Natural Plan Stomach Soother ™

“I have a mare who is described by my vet as the poster child for ulcers.  Omiprazole is cost prohibitive and Ranitidine only works for eight hours at a time.  Natural Plan Stomach Soother made the difference between life and death for this mare since I am unable to afford Omiprazole daily for the rest of her life or be there to give Ranitidine every eight hours.”

“I recommend Natural Plan Stomach Soother to all horse owners who travel, compete, want to avoid GI upset or have problems with existing GI issues.  I even give it to my young horse on show days and prior to trailering, just in case.  I am thrilled with Natural Plan Stomach Soother and will continue to recommend it to all horse owners.  It has truly been a life saver.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.!”
